What makes a Disney movie great? Sure, there’s the typically wonderful animation, engaging plotlines, well-rounded characters and let’s not forget the iconic soundtracks! But there’s something even more profound that keeps us returning to these films – the way they cross boundaries between age, gender and interest, making them ideal conversation pieces at the workplace :-).
Last week I went to watch one of the latest films added to the Disney lineup is The Jungle Book, a live-action remake of the 1967 film (also done by Disney.) It had all the hallmarks of a classic – beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, and the colourful CGI and sets make it a treat for the eyes. Next day at work I dropped it in conversations at work, hoping my colleagues wouldn’t make fun of me for going to see a kids’ film. Turned out that not only the Head of Digital was quite a big fan of Disney films, but also the Catalogue Manager and Warehouse Manager. Who would have thought?
Here’s the best thing about Disney films – it’s movies y could as easily see with your kids as with your coworkers. It marks another fantastic film that adults and children can watch with equal amusement, joining the likes of Toy Story, Pirates of the Caribbean, and – of course – Frozen.
The reason these Disney films are such important movies is how they act as cultural milestones. They can bring colleagues together with conversation the way they have always brought together parents and children. The Jungle Book continues on this important tradition, and we can’t wait to see what Disney comes up with next!
