It’s been an explosive week of TV this week, with one of Britain’s most watched and long-running soaps being the centre of attention after one particular storyline, running for almost ten months, draws to a close this evening.
If you’re not quite sure what we’re talking about yet, just open up any social networking site and you will probably see that EastEnders is trending!
The soap opera celebrates its 30th birthday today, and what better way to mark the occasion than revealing who killed Lucy Beale, the daughter of Ian Beale, one of the only two remaining original characters in the drama.
With half of the cast in the frame for one of the most talked about whodunits of all time, viewers have been kept on the edge of their seats since the final scene of Lucy last Easter.
Whether you’ve been keeping up with the East End or not, I would recommend watching the soap tonight, just so you can be involved in the conversation at work tomorrow!
One of the biggest parts of this week surrounding the soap has included snippets of live scenes, creating extra excitement around the show.
There has already been confusion sparking multiple debates surrounding one of the character’s lines, after Max Branning (played by Jake Wood) left audiences wondering whether he said ‘you killed Lucy’ or ‘who killed Lucy’ to his daughter Abi, who just happens to be one of many in the frame for the fatality.
What’s more, in last night’s episode Tanya Branning, played by Jo Joyner, had a slip of the tongue when she called Ian Beale by his real name Adam to his on screen wife Jane! These Brannings eh?
If you’re still following, this just goes to show the drama surrounding filming a soap opera, especially when it’s live.
So if you happen to work in the entertainment/film/TV industry, we thought we would remind you of the necessary health and safety that should be carried out, in order to avoid something worse than calling a character by the wrong name!
- Cable Protectors – we wouldn’t want a cast or crew member tripping on loose cables and wires and falling in to a live scene when they are revealing the killer of Lucy Beale would we?!
- Fire Safety – this includes fire extinguishers, fire alarms, fire safety blankets; you can never be too prepared on a set where numerous props and people could accidentally start a fire.
- First Aid Kits – unfortunately some accidents can’t be avoided, particularly if any stunts are being performed on a set, so first aid kits are essential in such workplace environments.
Who-do-you-think-dunnit?
We would love to know if you will be watching the finale of this ongoing story tonight. Let us know on our Facebook or Twitter pages, also commenting who you think is the guilty suspect!
